Before there were the Cornish-cross we have come to know as short-lived meat birds there were the true heritage Cornish. These are the slow-growing, long-lived, and naturally breeding Cornish originally produced in Cornwall, England from a combination of Old English Game and Aseel blood. Originally bred as a meat producing fowl with heavy bone, heavy muscle, and tight feather this bird is a standard-bred fowl primarily kept for exhibition in the US. The green sheen on the Dark Cornish adds a veneer of beautiful refinement. Don has raised the Cornish bantams in good numbers for decades, starting with stock from Henry Mager of Ohio, and bringing in genetics from Henry many times over the years. Don handles each bird multiple times as it grows out and only birds that meet Don’s strict selection criteria are made available for sale.
